HISTORY OF VREDELUST PRIMARY SCHOOL

Vredelust Preparatory School opened on 1 April 1951, with 87 learners and 3 teachers at the old Bellville Primary
School, where the Bellville Police Station is situated. Mrs E. de Klerk was appointed as Acting-Principal.

Mr A.O. Beukes was appointed as Principal on 1 April 1952. In 1954 a standard 3 class was added to the school.

At this time there was 214 learners at the school.
The current school building was opened on 10 February 1956, with 9 classrooms. The school hall was built in 1963 with funds raised by parents.

Vredelust Primary School was converted to a primary school in January 1965.
We currently have 530 learners.
